Being a Mummy (To a Beautiful Bichon Frise Puppy)

They say, being a mum is one of the most beautiful (and most difficult) thing in the world. I agree. I bet my motha’ is so happy to have me. They say, you would not know what it is like being a mum unless you have a child yourself. I say NO. Have a Bichon Frise pup and your life would never be the same again. My boyfriend and I got Belle (@belle_thebichon on Instagram) a little over than 2 weeks ago. We did not really plan of getting a Bichon. We were looking at getting a Pug or a Pomeranian. It just so happen that my mum’s workmate’s brother’s Bichon just had her babies and they were looking to sell all. As soon as I have seen the photos I said, “we are getting one” and; as soon as we have met Belle (formerly known as orange or chunky), we fell in love. She is just such a gorgeous and affectionate pup.

From the day that she came to live with us, I have now gotten into the habit of taking her with me everytime I wake up in the middle of the night – just to see if she wants to go for a pee as well. I wake up to her kisses and paw scratches, and makes it painful to leave for work in the morning.

She is on a raw diet and I have also started mixing raw veg on her food. She is a growing baby girl and eats a lot. We are training her not to jump on other people’s plates when eating, so she sits down and stares at you with those big glossy eyes, which is absolutely heartbreaking but must…re…sist.

She had her first bath just last weekend and boy, she did not like it at first, at the middle and at the end. One thing about a Bichon Frise’s coat is that, it is difficult to keep it white as snow if not properly maintained. The problem is, my baby Belle likes to lie down in small, tight spaces! THE AREAS THAT DADDY DOES NOT CLEAN PROPERLY! Soon after we dried her coat, she went under the sofa, over to the corner and lied down. She is now back to cream. The routine will start over again this weekend. Oh the joys!
