I have recently gotten in touch with my childish self and attended Comic Con in Glasgow with my boyfriend. As a first timer, I did not have any expectations but I was hoping to see some cosplayers from my favourite animé, One Piece. I was not disappointed. Actually, I am, in myself. I wish I was more prepared and joined the cosplaying community. That will be next year’s goal.
We got there just before 12pm and it was PACKED. This was probably the only time where my height had benefitted me. We went around to find goodies but I was eyeing for some Japanese snacks. There was only one stall but it was good enough. I spent most of my money on food.
We went to a panel talk where animator Hiroshi Shimizu was present, along with Kotomi Deai who talked about their recent project, Rolling Girls.
I was there not only because I was interested with their new project, but also because Shimizu-san was one of the key animators of Lupin III, Full Metal Alchemist and three of One Piece Special Episodes – all animés of which I LOVE.
The highlight of the event was the Cosplay show. It made me tear up a little bit… to see the dedication, time and effort that was put in some of the costumes I had seen, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Love how the characters came to life.
Hopefully, I will be able to channel my chosen character next cosplay season!
Ta-ta!
